This volume
documents the discussions at several meetings held in Arles
and in Aix-en Provence during 1999. According to the Barcelona
Declaration the contributions are organised in three groups.
In the first part Dominique David, Rene Leray, Mustapha Sehimi,
Abdelwahab Biad, Jean-François Daguzan, Philippe Roy,
Antonio Marquina and Cherif El Shoubashy discussed security
issue. In part 2 the prospects of the free trade zone were
examined by Azzam Mahjoub, Henri Regnault, Jean Verges, Luiz
Martinez and Nicole Grimaud while Christian Reynaud, Aït
Amara and Bertrand de Montluc discussed sectoral aspects.
Cultural and societal questions were reviewed in part three
by Robert Ilbert and Thierry Fabre, Jean-Robert Henry, Youssef
Courbage, Jacques Barrat and Ahmed Mahiou.
